(2024-03-14) Sequera Morales, Adriana Gabriela; Pineda Varela, Ramón Edecio; Castillo Brito, Eddybelleth Yemala
The current state of research management is one of the aspects that Ecuador should be aware of, especially in light of the need to fill the development gaps present in society. The objective set in this study was to describe the architecture of research in the Higher Education Institutions of Ecuador, with the purpose of assessing how research is being organized in the HEIs, since they are the main actor for the task. research and innovation of the country. The methodology was based on basic, documentary, descriptive level research. Document analysis was used as a technique for collecting information, through the review of the information presented by the HEIs on their websites. The instrument was an information systematization sheet where data on the organization of research and innovation in HEIs is evidenced. The analysis categories considered were: Human Talent dedicated to research, Research Groups, number of laboratories, promotion of research and innovation through calls for projects. The population under study were the Higher Education Institutions of Ecuador with published research data on their institutional websites. It is concluded that there are consolidated HEIs within research management, but also HEIs with evident weaknesses in the organization of research management.

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia and affects millions of people worldwide. The prevalence of type 1 and 2 DM has been increasing in recent years and is a significant morbidity burden. The objective of this research was to carry out a bibliographic review on diabetes mellitus, from the epidemiology of the disease to treatment and management strategies. Using databases such as PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science, with articles published from 2019 to 2024. Accordingto the data collected, diabetes mellitus is a phenomenon with global prevalence and forecasts of an increase of 46% in 2045. The research carried out allowed us to identify theoretical and conceptual references that support diabetes mellitus, its pathophysiology, management and prevention. The comprehensive approach of current therapies was demonstrated, which includes glycemic control, lifestyle change and prevention of morbidity and allows facing the risk factors to which one is exposed through a personalization of the intervention. Novel technologies such as continuous glucose level monitoring and incretin-based therapies show positive results in the treatment of the disease.

This study addresses arterial hypertension (AHT) as a critical public health problem in Ecuador; it examined its epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment and risk factors. A literature and documentary review methodology was used to analyze publications between 2018 and 2024, which included scientific articles, books, and theses available on recognized platforms such as Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Dialnet. This method ensured the accuracy and relevance of the information by applying strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, with a specific focus on studies on epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, and risk factors of arterial hypertension in Ecuador. The findings reveal significant variability in the prevalence of HT among different regions and de-mographic groups, highlighting the need for culturally tailored management and treatment approaches. The importance of early detection and effective management of HT was highlighted to prevent serious complica-tions in vital organs and reduce associated mortality. The conclusions underscore the urgency of improving diagnostic and treatment strategies, integrating both pharmacological interventions and lifestyle modifications. It identifies the need for more personalized and culturally sensitive public health policies to address variability in the prevalence and management of HTN. The study also recommends strengthening public education and awareness of HT to encourage earlier detection and effective management, with a view toward future research that will delve deeper into the causes of the observed disparities and develop more effective intervention me-thods that consider genetic and environmental factors.

Societies are undergoing a set of changes in all political, social and economic spheres that demand new strategic actions to achieve evolution and sustainable development. Therefore, higher education is a field greatly influenced by these global dynamics, which guide the transformation of the substantive functions of Higher Education Institutions. The objective of the research is "To configure a theoretical structure of the elements of artificial intelligence from an active, collaborative and interactive conception of teaching and learning in Higher Education". The study is of a documentary type with a descriptive approach. An approach was made to the input theories that make up the indispensable elements of the artificial intelligence variables and the active teaching-learning methodologies. The data collection technique was documentary analysis, the instrument was the content map under the Bagozzi Model and the information was processed through content analysis. The results showed that technological advances and globalization demand that Higher Education must adapt to these changes and reorient its teaching function to improve educational quality. Likewise, a series of theoretical concepts were generated where their relationships exposed the potentialities that Artificial Intelligence has in the Active Methodologies of teaching and learning, since personnel and students are able to learn from them

(2024-12-05) Pineda Varela, Ramón Edecio; Tonato Cruz, María José; Calero Cisneros, Yadira Elizabeth; Chapin Olivero, Iris Priscila
In today's society, new information and communication technologies are integrated into the daily life of human beings, so the use of technological tools increases every day from an early age. The purpose of this research is to reveal from the meanings of teachers the use of digital tools in the teaching and learning process in the area of sublevel 2 of the Early Childhood Education Schools integrated into the Executive Unit for theProtection of Rights. The study is framed within qualitative research, the data collection technique was the interview and the methodology used was Van Manen's hermeneutic phenomenology. The findings revealed a perception of teachers towards the integration of technology into early education since from their experience they are beneficial for learning. However, they highlight the balanced and supervised use of these tools in order to take full advantage of their benefits, at the same time, they express that in order to develop the skills of the 21st century, a transformation and renewal of educational models is required from the initial level.
